The objective of this module is to provide students with:
- knowledge of relevant meteorological parameters for climate analysis;
- skills for climate data analysis.

After completing this module, students should be able to:
- use relevant meteorological parameters for climate analysis;
- apply mathematical methods and tools for climate data analysis.

- Contents
- Fundamentals of climate analysis.
- Basic meteorological data for climate analysis: Rainfall, temperature, duration of sunshine, relative humidity, wind speed and direction, convection etc.
- Mathematical tools for climate studies: Applied statistics and geostatistics (robust statistical methods, comparative analysis, estimating data, analysis of extreme values, Empirical Orthogonal Function (EOF) Analysis, Rotated EOF Analysis, ……).
- Numerical methods for climate science.
- Data analysis tools and methods: climate data processing software, Ferret, R, NCL (NCAR Command Language), common climate data formats ….
- Practical exercise: case study – using a data processing software for climate data analysis.
